Intense 15-day Birding and Amazonian Wildlife tour in southern Peruvian Amazonia. Since we will be birding in the Amazonian lowlands, you will have the opportunity to see more than 400 bird species and a lot of other wildlife between the Los Amigos and the Tambopata rivers.

First, we take a flight from Lima to Puerto Maldonado, the biggest city in southern Peruvian Amazonia. After that, we take a boat up the Río Madre de Dios to Los Amigos Biological Station, in the province of Manu. Los Amigos reserve has an impressive trail system that goes through different habitats. Therefore, we could find a great diversity of birds. For example, Black-faced Cotinga, White-throated Antbird, Zone-tailed Hawk, just to mention a few. Additionally, In these pristine forests it is not rare to find high diversity of monkeys, amphibians and reptiles.

After those fantastic days in Manu, the Birding and Amazonian Wildlife tour goes to the Tambopata National Reserve. Once in the reserve, we stay at three different lodges: Posada Amazonas, Tambopata Research Center, and Refugio Amazonas. During our stay at the Tambopata Research Center, we’ll have chances for an interesting list of birds. For instance, Purus Jacamar, Peruvian Recurvebill, Rufous-breasted Piculet, White-cheeked Tody-tyrant, and several species of macaws and parrots. Besides, we will visit oxbow lakes with Giant River Otters, different species of Caimans, and probably Green Anacondas. Moreover, we could spot jaguars and tapirs along the river margins.

The Birding and Amazonian Wildlife tour finishes in the city of Puerto Maldonado, where we will take a flight back to Lima. Finally, visiting the Manu and Tambopata areas can be the birding and wildlife experience of a lifetime.
