Green Tours, the trade name of Cheqa Peru SRL, is a Peruvian tour operator company stablished in 2006 with the objective to offer high quality ground services for tourism operations in Peru with innovation, comfort, safety, and commitment with our social and environmental responsibilities.
The last few years Green Tours has established itself as an important Peruvian tour operator, providing ground logistics for American, Canadian and British birding companies like Wings, Paradise Birding, Sunrise Birding, Worldwide Birding Tours, Sierra Club, Avocet Tours, and Heatherlea.
Green Tours is part of a Carbon Neutral partnership to offset the carbon footprint for its operations, with this partnership we are helping to improve the conservation efforts in the Tambopata National Reserve. Also, since 2016 we are supporting small conservation efforts in north western Peru for the conservation of the habitat of the tropical dry forest, specially the habitat of the Peruvian Plantcutter. Currently, our General Manager is the executive director of APTAE (the Peruvian Association for Eco and Adventure Tourism). Our Sales and Marketing Manager, Wilson Díaz, is an active birder and has been travelling with birding groups since 2001 providing logistic support for several companies. Also, we have created “Asociación Green Tours”, a non-profit organization aimed to support conservation initiatives for endangered species like Grey-bellied Comet and Peruvian Plantcutter.
Meet our guides
I live in the city of Tarapoto, located in northern Peru. I’m a specialist bird and nature guide. I have the ability to identify birds by its vocalization and quick display. At the same time, I have a good knowledge of the best places for birding in the whole country. I concluded my studies of Tourism Management at the San Martin National University. I speak English and Spanish. My interest in nature started when I was a child while traveling with my mother. I’ve been guiding professionally since 2007, being trained by local birding authorities like José Alvarez Alonso, Noam Shany, and Constantino Aucca Chutas.
I was born in the native community of Infierno, near the city of Puerto Maldonado, at the entrance gate of the Tambopata National Reserve. I’ve spent most of my life in the forest of Tambopata, and I decided to become a bird guide because of the joy of sharing my experiences with the visitors. I’ve been guiding naturalist in Tambopata for more than 10 years, then I specialized in guiding birding groups during a traineeship while working in Pantanal (Brazil). Then I returned to Peru to be a full time birding and nature guide in Tambopata. Currently, I’m also travelling to other parts of Peru to increase my knowledge of the Peruvian birds, so I’ll be able to guide in other places of the country.
I consider myself very enthusiastic and passionate for my work. I’ve been guiding in northern Peru for more than 10 years for important companies like Green Tours, Overseas Adventure Travel, Abercrombie & Kent, North Peru Tours, Setours, National Geographic Expedition, TCS, and others. I speak fluid English, and of course Spanish. I’m always will to accommodate myself to the specific needs of the different clients. I like sports, outdoor activities, and birdwatching. Currently, I’m leading groups with mixed interest in soft birding and archaeology.
